Making their intentions clear, Honda Racing UK has announced that reigning 2023 Bennetts British Superbike champion Tommy Bridewell will continue with the factory-owned Honda team for the upcoming 2024 season.
Tommy, having fulfilled his lifelong dream of winning a championship, joins Honda as a sixteen-time race winner. This marks a new partnership between Tommy and Honda, as they team up with the latest 2024 Fireblade to defend his title. With the determination to achieve back-to-back championship victories and make history as the first to do so with different manufacturers, Tommy brings not only his experience but also a winning mindset and the ambition to raise another trophy. Additionally, his CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP will proudly display his series-winning number 1 plate.
With Tommy joining the team, they now have a strong trio leading their charge towards the Superbike championship. As the team gears up for the upcoming season, they will focus on carefully planning and preparing in the preseason before heading into official testing in the new year. The first race of the season will take place at Circuito de Navarra in sunny Spain on April 20-21.
Tommy Bridewell is once again the talk of the racing world.
“I am thrilled to be joining such a prestigious brand. It has been a goal of mine, like every rider, to ride for Honda at some point. Bringing the number 1 plate with me is truly amazing. The timing feels perfect – I have achieved my championship goals and now my sole focus is defending the title. I’m here at Honda to do exactly that: win another championship. My decisions have always been guided by instinct, and following my gut has never led me astray. Joining Honda was an opportunity I had always desired, and it was an easy choice to make. I firmly believe that this is the best team to help me defend my championship. And getting to ride a new bike only adds to my motivation. It’s an honor to proudly display the number 1 plate next season.”
Havier Beltran, the team manager.
“Tommy is a highly exhilarating rider and I am thrilled to have him join Honda Racing UK. His accomplishments in the previous season demonstrated his remarkable skills and I am confident that his joining our team will greatly aid our quest for triumph. I am certainly not the only one eagerly anticipating his potential on our new Fireblade. Our goal for 2024 is straightforward – we are racing with the intention of winning and contending for the championship“.
Neil Fletcher is the current Head of Motorcycles at Honda UK.
“The addition of Tommy, a skilled rider, showcases Honda’s plans for the upcoming 2024 season. I am delighted to welcome him to our team. It fills me with pride that he has chosen to join Honda and use the number 1 plate on his Fireblade next year. His goals for 2024 perfectly align with our own and I cannot wait to embark on this new phase of Honda’s racing journey. With Andrew and Dean in Superbike, Jack on the 600, and John, Dean, and Nathan on the roads, we now have one of our strongest rider line-ups in recent years”.
