In 2026 we mark a milestone in British rallying history — the 50th anniversary of the Lombard Rally’s iconic link with Bath. To honour this golden moment, Masters of Motoring is proud to host a dedicated Rally Through the Ages display on 27–28 June 2026 — a celebration not just of speed and competition, but of heritage, engineering and spectacle.
From Golden Era to Modern Revival
The Lombard RAC Rally was a legendary fixture in British motorsport throughout the 1970s and 80s. Its name became synonymous with spectacular forest stages, celebrity drivers, and a fanbase that rivalled football attendances.
Bath played a central role in the event’s history, hosting the ceremonial start or finish in several years — notably 1976, 1980, 1983 and 1986. Today, the Lombard Rally Bath project is dedicated to recreating that golden era — bringing to life the rally’s spirit through demonstration stages, touring formats, and a showcase of period machinery.
Their mission is clear: to resurrect the roar, the competition, and the pageantry of rallying at its most pure — letting drivers and spectators alike experience the rally as it once was, but without pressure.

At Masters of Motoring 2026, we are thrilled to bring this legacy to life. Over both days, visitors will be treated to live rally demonstrations from the Lombard Rally Bath team, with carefully engineered stages that echo the classic era. Expect iconic cars, expert drivers, and a dramatic rhythm of engines, smoke, and tires.
Beyond demonstrations, the Rally Through the Ages display will feature legendary rally cars from across decades — giving enthusiasts the chance to walk among machines that have shaped the sport. From the vintage beauties of the 1960s and 70s to the turbo monsters of the Group B era, the display will tell the story of rallying’s evolution.
