This weekend marks a major milestone for Aston Martin, as its revolutionary Valkyrie hypercar competes simultaneously on both sides of the Atlantic—a first in modern endurance racing.

The Aston Martin THOR Team is entering all three of its Valkyrie Hypercars in global competition across the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA)—a rare and ambitious feat that cements Valkyrie’s place as the only Hypercar platform competing in both series in 2025.
Spa-Francorchamps: Valkyrie Prepares for Le Mans
In Belgium, the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit will host the third round of the FIA WEC on 10 May, with two Valkyries taking the start:
-
#007 – driven by British duo Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble
-
#009 – piloted by Marco Sørensen and Alex Riberas
Following a successful finish for both cars at Imola, the team heads into Spa aiming to fine-tune its race strategy ahead of the biggest challenge of the season—the 24 Hours of Le Mans next month. Spa’s high-speed corners and elevation changes will provide a rigorous test of the Valkyrie’s aerodynamic prowess and race endurance.
Laguna Seca: IMSA Momentum Continues
Across the Atlantic, attention turns to Laguna Seca, California, where the #23 Valkyrie, driven by Ross Gunn and Roman De Angelis, will take on the fourth round of the IMSA championship on 11 May.
After scoring points in its first two IMSA appearances, the Valkyrie is already making a strong impression in the GTP class. The historic 2.2-mile circuit, with its infamous Corkscrew turn, offers a new challenge—but also a chance to extend its 100% points-scoring record.
Redefining the Hypercar Era
Developed from the Aston Martin Valkyrie road car, the race version features a race-optimised carbon chassis and a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12, limited to 680bhp as per LMH regulations. The Valkyrie is not just competing—it’s breaking boundaries, being the only road-derived Hypercar in IMSA and the only one racing in both of endurance racing’s top series.
With engineering excellence at its core, Valkyrie’s dual-continent debut is more than a scheduling feat—it’s a bold statement of intent for the 2025 season.

Vantage GT3 Also Set for Strong Weekend
It’s not all about Valkyrie. The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will also be in action at Spa, Laguna Seca, and the Nürburgring. Teams including The Heart of Racing, Racing Spirit of Léman, and Walkenhorst Motorsport are gunning for class victories, as Vantage continues to show strong form across global endurance series.
Why This Matters to Masters of Motoring Fans
Here at Masters of Motoring, we celebrate the very best in performance, heritage, and innovation—and Aston Martin’s Valkyrie programme is delivering all three. Whether on the track or on display, this car captures the spirit of engineering ambition that defines the future of motorsport.
With Valkyrie’s eyes on Le Mans, and the brand’s dual success in IMSA and WEC, we’re witnessing racing history and post Le Mans, I’m looking forward to seeing the weight limitations removed and let the real fun begin for the Valkyrie.
